Otto Triffterer

Otto Triffterer (born February 11, 1931 in Osterfeld (Oberhausen) ; † June 1, 2015 in Salzburg ) was a legal scholar .

Life

From 1951 to 1953 and 1955 to 1956 Triffterer studied law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . 1953/1954 he was a Student of Law, Sociology and Political Science at Harvard University ( first Scholarship for German Students ). In 1957 he passed the 1st state examination and was employed in the Ministry of Justice in Baden-Württemberg .

From 1957 to 1961 he worked as a research assistant and later as a research assistant for American criminal law, international criminal law and human rights at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law .

In 1961 the 2nd state examination followed, and in 1962 he was admitted to the bar.

In 1962, Triffterer obtained his doctorate. iur. utriusque with the work "Dogmatic Studies on the Development of Material International Criminal Law since Nuremberg".

From 1970 Triffterer worked as an associate professor at Bielefeld University before moving to Gießen University in 1973 . In 1979 he followed a call to the University of Salzburg , where he worked until his retirement in 1999. From 1993 until his retirement he was the dean of the law school.
