Hans-Josef Frickenstein (born September 20, 1948 in Schleiden ; † July 16, 2013 in Aachen ) was a German poet, writer and draftsman .

life and work

Hans-Josef Frickenstein grew up in simple circumstances in Broichweiden near Aachen and initially worked as a warehouse clerk. Finally, Frickenstein devoted himself to a self-taught passion for writing that he had already developed in his youth. In 1972 he joined the working group literature in the world of work . He had his first publications in the Cologne reader (authors of the Cologne workshop). As a member of the Euregio Maas-Rhein e. V. he was active in the Lyriktreff and appeared regularly in Aachen, among other things on the occasion of the event series Leselust im Quadrum .

Text contributions and lyrical comments by the author, mainly on current political events, can be found in various magazines and anthologies . In 2008, his book of poems was garish green landscapes by Edition Exemplum in Oberhausen published.

“Frickenstein's poems take stock of the political and social situation not only in our country. It is thanks to Frickenstein's virtuoso language that domestic and foreign policy issues (...) do not turn into pure agitation and find adequate space in the rather unusual lyrical form. "

Since the mid-1990s, Frickenstein has also been active as an artist, producing watercolors and a large number of drawings, primarily with expressions that are critical of time and society , some in the form of illustrations for his own poetry and writings. His companions in Aachen included the concept artist Peter Lacroix and the author Robert Sukrow .

Hans-Josef Frickenstein died in 2013 after a serious neurological illness. The whereabouts of his work is not known.
