Hans-Ludwig Schilling

Hans-Ludwig Schilling (born March 9, 1927 in Mayen ; † August 18, 2012 ) was a German composer and music professor .

Life

From early childhood on, Schilling received musical instruction from his grandfather Johann Stoll. At the age of 13 he took lessons from Cologne professors Heinrich Lemacher (theory) and Bram Eldering ( violin ). He studied composition with Harald Genzmer , Paul Hindemith , Nadia Boulanger , Antoine-Elisée Cherbuliez and Wolfgang Fortner . In addition to piano and bassoon , he also completed studies in philosophy, literature and musicology. After previous teaching assignments ( Freiburg i. Br. And Karlsruhe ) he headed the composition-theory-musicology department at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg from 1973 .

The main focus in the compositional oeuvre for all genres of music except opera (360 titles) are wind , organ and choral music . There are also 16 solo concerts with orchestra and symphonic wind music among other orchestral works.
