Hans-Otto Schultz (born January 30, 1921 ; † December 12, 2016 ) was a football player in Wismar . In 1949/50 he played for ZSG Anker in the Oberliga , the highest East German league.

Athletic career

Schulz was one of the Wismar football players who, after the Second World War and the early 1950s, ensured that first division football was sometimes played in the Baltic city. He was already there in the 1947/48 season, when SG Wismar Süd became Mecklenburg runner-up and qualified for the quarter-finals of the 1st East Zone Championship in 1948 (1: 3 against Freiimfelde Halle). On April 10, 1949 Schulz made the Mecklenburg championship title perfect with his 1-0 winner in the decisive game against SG Schwerin. So Wismar Süd again moved into the East Zone Championship in 1949 , but this time defeated Fortuna Erfurt clearly with 0:10.

As national champions, the Wismar team had also qualified for the newly created upper league of the East German sports committee . For the first season, Hans-Otto Schultz was nominated for the team now playing as ZSG Anker Wismar and played 18 times during the 26 point games. He usually played as a half-forward , mostly on the right side. He scored his only goal on matchday 16, January 22, 1950, in a 6-0 away win against forward Schwerin. At the end of the season Wismar had to play against the tied team from Altenburg Nord to stay up. With Schulz as the right winger, the Ostseestädter lost 2: 3 and were relegated to the second-rate GDR league .

The 1950/51 league season was the 29-year-old Schulz's last season at Anker Wismar. He only played five point games. His last appearance was as a center forward in the game Anker Wismar - SSV Köpenick on February 25, 1951, the 16th matchday. He had previously scored his last point goal in a 1-1 draw at Chemie Großräschen on February 11, 1951, and it was also his only goal of the season.
