Hans-Peter Sommer (born February 20, 1944 in Hettstedt-Burgörner ) is a former German teacher and local politician ( CDU ). From 1990 to 1994 he was district administrator of the district of Hettstedt and from 1994 to 2007 district administrator of the district of Mansfelder Land .

Live and act

Sommer was born in Hettstedter Humboldt Castle. His father was a soldier from Graz who fell towards the end of the Second World War, his mother came from Mansfeld . After attending school and studying, he worked as a teacher for physics, mathematics, astronomy and ESP until 1990 .

Sommer began his political career after the " Wende " and was elected in 1990 as a CDU candidate for the district administrator of the district of Hettstedt. After the formation of the district of Mansfelder-Land, which was created in 1994 with the effect of the first district reform in Saxony-Anhalt from the merger of the districts of Hettstedt and Eisleben , he took over the management of the local district office. His term of office ended on July 1, 2007 with the effect of the second district reform and the formation of the Mansfeld-Südharz district from the Mansfelder-Land and Sangerhausen districts .

HP Sommer has been married to Waltraud Sommer since 1964; both are parents and grandparents.

Appreciation

In 2008 Hans-Peter Sommer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . His services to the integration of the Mansfeld country into the new state, in combination with the extraordinary political and social commitment next to the district office, were decisive for this. For example, he was active in various specialist committees of the Saxony-Anhalt district council and advocated the formation of a state association of municipal employers very early on. The municipal employers' association of Saxony-Anhalt was founded in September 1990 as the first of its kind. As a member of the board and from 2001 as chairman of the association, Sommer had a considerable influence on the collective bargaining policy of the municipal public service in Saxony-Anhalt. At the federal level, it was to his credit that the East German employers' associations always appeared with a united mind in the context of collective bargaining disputes. During the time-consuming negotiations to transform the previous BAT-O into the collective agreement for the public service, he also thought of the interests of the employees. The alignment of the East-West relations was an important concern for him, which after difficult and lengthy discussions could finally be achieved in the future.

Further engagements

During the summer, the district partnership between the Neu-Ulm district and the Hettstedt district came about. The then District Administrator Franz Josef Schick (District Neu-Ulm) and District Administrator Hans-Peter Sommer (District Hettstedt) signed the partnership certificate on October 3, 1990.

The partnership between the two districts was initiated at the suggestion of the then Mayor of Vöhringen, Erich Josef Geßner, who signed the partnership agreement between the cities of Vöhringen and Hettstedt in May 1990 with his colleague from Hettstedt.

Sommer was also able to enrich his district culturally by signing a donation agreement as district administrator of the Mansfelder-Land district on May 4, 1999 together with the managing director of "Mansfelder Kultur, Feriendienst undversorgung GmbH" or Baustoffhandel GmbH and thus the legacy of the Humboldts, the "Mansfeld Gallery" secured.
