Hans-Rudolf Striebel (born November 8, 1930 in Basel ; resident in Basel and Winterthur ) is a Swiss physicist and politician ( FDP ).

Live and act

The son of a chemist studied physics , mathematics and chemistry at the University of Basel and received his doctorate in 1956. Habilitated there in 1961, he was appointed associate professor at the University of Basel in 1965. Striebel was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt from 1976 to 1984 . From 1980 to 1984 he chaired the FDP Basel-Stadt . From 1984 to 1995 he was a member of the government of the canton of Basel-Stadt and headed the education department. His successor in the government council was Stefan Cornaz .

Striebel was the district president in 1986 when a major fire broke out in the Schweizerhalle plant of the chemical company Sandoz . As a result, he was exposed to massive allegations. During Striebel's tenure, a school reform was passed in 1988, which introduced a system of two years of kindergarten, four years of primary school, three years of orientation school and five years of high school or two years of advanced training.
