reception

Volker Ullrich praised in time , Giordano had "thought together and summarized" what had previously been little known only in individual representations and available to the general public.

Jochen Thies complained in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the book was based more than stated on the standard works of the specialist historians Klaus Hildebrand and Andreas Hillgruber , without translating their findings into terminology accessible to the general public. Thies uses the word "copy".

If Hitler had won the war, he was represented in the Spiegel bestseller lists for several months in 1989 and 1990 .
