Hans-Ulrich Stephan

Hans-Ulrich Stephan (born December 22, 1931 in Oberlangenau near Hirschberg , Silesia , † October 6, 2009 in Bad Honnef ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

From 1951 Hans-Ulrich Stephan studied theology in Bonn , Tübingen and Basel . In 1957 he became vicar in Mülheim an der Ruhr , and later in Essen-Rüttenscheid . In January 1960, he was selected by Church President Heinrich Held ordained . He was study inspector at the Essen Preachers' Seminar of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland and in 1962 became a school priest at the Siegesstrasse grammar school in Wuppertal . From 1972 to 1981 he was superintendent of the Barmen church district.

In 1978 he was elected as a part-time member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. In 1981 he became a full-time senior church councilor and in 1989 theological conductor (deputy president ). Hans-Ulrich Stephan was primarily responsible for diaconal work areas.

After the sudden death of President Peter Beier , Stephan was in office in 1996/97 until Manfred Kock was elected and introduced as President of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. In 1997 he retired.
