Hans Ahlgrimm

Hans Ahlgrimm (born November 10, 1904 in Vienna , † April 23, 1945 in Berlin ) was an Austrian composer and violinist .

Life

Ahlgrimm received his first piano lessons from his mother. It was soon established that he had perfect pitch. From 1910 he received violin lessons at the Vienna Conservatory . In 1919 he was finally determined for a musical career and entered the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . He studied with Ferdinand Löwe Orchestra, with Franz Schmidt counterpoint and composition and with Eusebius Mandyczewski music history and instrumentation. He also studied violin with Otakar Ševčík . He completed his studies with a doctorate. From 1925 to 1926 he was concert master of the Innsbruck Musikverein. From 1926 to 1929 he was employed as a teacher at the Vienna People's Conservatory. The Berlin State Opera engaged him in 1929 as first violinist. From 1931 until his death in 1945 he was employed as second violinist and violist with the Berliner Philharmoniker . As a composer he made a name for himself primarily with his trumpet concerto, which the Philharmonic Orchestra performed several times.
