Hans Anliker

Hans Anliker (* 1949 in Bern ) is a Swiss trombonist and composer who has made a name for himself in the field of free jazz . He lives and works in Worb and Basel .

Live and act

Anliker received classical training on the trombone . In addition, there was training at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. However , Anliker received decisive impulses in the field of jazz and free improvisation music from encounters with John Tchicai , Albert Mangelsdorff , Ray Anderson and Barre Phillips .

In the 1990s he belonged to the Q 4 orchestra founded by Matthias Rissi , with whom he recorded several albums. Then he was active in Omri Brick's formation Cheap Bauer . He is currently working in various Swiss and European improvisation ensembles such as LIFT, the duo with bassist Marianne Anliker and Tommy Meyer's Root Down , with whom he also presented himself at the Willisau and Mulhouse jazz festivals . Particularly noteworthy is his participation in the wind ensemble September Winds , founded by Peter A. Schmid , which has also recorded several albums with Evan Parker and performed at the International Festival for New Music in Bucharest, among others.

Anliker is also a member of the Thun City Orchestra and is still regularly active in the field of classical-symphonic music. He also interpreted works of new music (among others for Alfred Zimmerlin ). He composed and interpreted a. a. various radio play music for Radio DRS .

According to his own statements, he regards “his roots in tradition” as well as “flexibility in dealing with different types of music” as an important “breeding ground for his improvisations and compositions”.
