Hans Burgener (* 1952 in Bern ) is a Swiss violinist who is active in the fields of classical music, jazz, improvisation and experimental music.

Burgener, who has been playing the violin since he was six , studied at the Bern Conservatory . He then played in various classical orchestras, folk, rock and jazz rock groups. In 1981 he founded the workshop for improvised music (WIM Bern).

Between 1986 and 1991 he worked on multimedia projects with dancers such as Franca Horisberger , Eva Fuhrer , Susanne Müller and visual artists such as Ruedi Schwyn , Jürg Nigg , Moritz Bösiger , Res Flückiger and Urs Gehbauer . In 1991 he founded the Trio Burgener / Philipps / Schütz with Barre Phillips and Martin Schütz , with whom he gave and recorded concerts all over Europe in the following years. As part of a cultural exchange between Bern and Moscow, he performed with Hans Koch, Margrit Rieben , Franz Aeschbacher , Giancarlo Nicolai , Alexander Kostikov and Andrew Solovjov in Moscow and Saint Petersburg in 1996 and in Switzerland the following year.

Burgener performed at the JazzHerbst Konstanz 96 with Joëlle Léandre , Martin Schütz, Harald Kimmig , Ralf Werner and Peter Kowald . Also in 1996 he gave concerts in Japan with Richard Teitelbaum , the following year with Günter Müller in Switzerland. In 1998 he went on a European tour with Richard Teitelbaum, Günter Müller and Carlos Zingaro . More recent projects were “Allgebrah = You are Music” with texts by Adolf Wölfli and Comunicacion invisible with brain researchers from the neurophysiological department of the Psychiatric University Clinics in Bern. The project EAM Electronic-Acoustic Meeting (2006-07) he worked with Martin Müller , Roger Stucki and Stefan Woodtli together.
