Hans Auenmüller

Hans Karl Balduin Auenmüller (born October 31, 1926 in Dresden ; † August 3, 1991 in Huy-Neinstedt near Huy near Halberstadt ) was a German conductor and composer .

Live and act

Born as the son of a Protestant pastor, Hans Auenmüller spent the last months of the war in Blankenburg and Thale . After the war he studied music (piano, accompaniment, conducting and composition) in Dresden. In 1949 he passed the state examination and in 1952, after brief engagements in Meiningen and Staßfurt, came to the Volkstheater Halberstadt . Here Auenmüller initially worked as a choir director. From 1954 until his death he was the musical director of the theater. In 1955 he was appointed music director.

Auenmüller also emerged as a composer of various small dramatic and instrumental works.

Auenmüller was married, his daughter Gabriele and son Michael Auenmüller work at the Semperoper .

Honors

  • In 2011 the theater forecourt in Halberstadt was named after Hans Auenmüller.
  • The Andreas Werckmeister Society honors him with concerts and in 2001 organized a multi-day Auenmüller Festival
