Hans Böblinger (* around 1410, probably Böblingen ; † January 4, 1482 in Esslingen am Neckar ), also Beblinger , was the founder of the Swabian master builder family of Böblingen in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Hans Böblinger was the first of the master builder family whose name and stonemason's mark was documented on a crack in 1435 as a draft of a sacrament house in the Constance Minster . Furthermore, a draft for a tabernacle is drawn through him. According to chroniclers' statements, he was also involved in building the cathedral in Überlingen . 1436 he was the construction of the Church of Our Lady in Esslingen active and after the death of architect Hans Huelin he was appointed by the City Council on the recommendation of the then church architect Matthew Ensinger for polishing hired. He was named foreman as early as 1440. After that, Ensinger remained the master builder there. In 1456 he was appointed church builder for life and was exempt from all duties such as taxes and for the guild. His foreman was called Hans Gugelin.
From 1464 to 1466 he is said to have built the church tower in Möhringen .

Life

It can be assumed that he was born in Böblingen based on the naming of his name. It is not known where he learned to be a stonemason and stone sculptor. In 1440 he married Ursula Koch in Esslingen. In 1445 he sold his father-in-law's farm with his brothers-in-law. In 1459 he took part in the large cathedral master builder meeting in Regensburg and in 1465 in Speyer. He had four sons, Matthew , Marcus , Lux and Dionysius . His sons Matthäus and Marcus accompanied him as journeymen to the cathedral master builder meeting in Strasbourg in 1472. Hans Böblinger was highly respected. At the stonemason day in Heilbronn in 1468 he was the referee and in Speyer he was the second to sign the stonemasons' construction works.
