Hans Brügel (born November 17, 1914 in Feuerbach ; Württemberg; † October 2, 2009 in Bad Kissingen ) was a German physician.

Career

Brügel passed his Abitur in Feuerbach in 1933 and studied medicine at the universities of Tübingen and Munich between 1933 and 1938 . He subsequently stayed as a research assistant at the II Medical University Clinic in Munich. In September 1940 he was drafted as a medical officer for service at the front and was taken prisoner by the Soviets towards the end of the war. He was used in the Caucasus as a camp doctor to care for 4,000 prisoners of war in Camp 181 in Rustavi . When he fell ill with dystrophy , he was released in 1949 to return to Germany.

The further career path turned out to be difficult, paid jobs for late returners were not available. Brügel therefore initially worked as an editor for medical publications. He then came to the Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt Hospital as a doctor, where he stayed for seven years. After a brief activity as a senior physician at the Rhineland-Palatinate health clinic in Bad Salzig , he took over the medical management of the Saale Clinic of the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees (BfA) in Bad Kissingen in 1957, which remained his professional sphere until he retired in 1979 . During his time as a doctor in Bad Kissingen, he also worked scientifically again, primarily in the field of hepatology and gastroenterology . With various employees, he was awarded the Boxberger Prize three times .
