Hans Brunswig

Hans Brunswig (born October 25, 1908 in Mannheim ; † August 4, 2004 in Kirchlengern ) was a German firefighter and author .

Life

Brunswig studied mechanical engineering at the TH Karlsruhe and was awarded a Dipl.-Ing. graduated. In 1938 he joined the Hamburg fire brigade as a fire engineer . In 1943 he was appointed major in the fire police and on August 1, 1945, he was promoted to fire chief. In 1945 he was promoted to chief fire chief and in 1963 to fire director. He headed the Hamburg fire brigade from 1963 to 1968.

He wrote a number of specialist books on the history of fire services and is considered a chronicler of the Hamburg firestorm .
