Hans Christoph Boppel (born July 11, 1951 in Bergzabern ) is a German politician ( Die Grünen ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Hans Christoph Boppel attended elementary school in Bergzabern from 1958 to 1962 and the modern-language grammar schools in Bad Bergzabern and Pirmasens from 1962 to 1970 . After graduating from high school in 1970, Boppel refused military service and in 1971/72 did alternative service with the YMCA Palatinate and with the accident rescue service and ambulance service of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Pirmasens . 1972 to 1974 and 1976 to 1979 he studied psychology in Trier . He completed his studies in 1980 with a diploma. From 1981 to 1982 he worked at the Center for Psychosomatic Medicine in Giessen .

Hans Christoph Boppel was a member of the Greens parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament in the 11th electoral term. Initially, he was a parliamentary group assistant for the Greens parliamentary group in the state parliament (January 1, 1983 to April 15, 1985) in the first half of the electoral term. In the second half, due to the rotation principle of the Greens, on April 16, 1985, he succeeded Gertrud Schilling as a member of the Hessian state parliament . In the Green Group he was the environmental policy spokesman. He was also elected in the following state election. This time he took the first half of the electoral term and rotated on November 14, 1989 from the state parliament. Reinhold Weist was the successor . In 1994, Boppel organized the election campaign for BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN in Saxony-Anhalt, which led to the GRÜNEN's re-entry into the state parliament and their participation in government.

Administrative activities

From 1989 to 1993 he worked as a department head for building supervision, monument protection, housing subsidies, waste management, nature conservation and traffic in the district of Gießen . He then became head of the EXPO office of the state government of Saxony-Anhalt and advisor for independent regional development in the Ministry of Regional Planning, Agriculture and the Environment.

Between 2000 and 2005, Hans Christoph Boppel was head of the department “Basic issues of environmental policy, sustainable development, Agenda 21, environmental education, energy, climate protection” in the Minister for the Environment and Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2005 to 2013 he was head of division in the Ministry for Generations, Family, Women and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, responsible for one-world policy and development cooperation.

Since April 2013, Boppel has been the department head for climate, renewable energies, environmental economics, consumer protection and sustainable development in the North Rhine-Westphalian state representation in Brussels. Together with the journalist Monika Hoegen he is the host of the development policy roundtable "Brussels Happy Development Hour".
