Hans D. Baumann

Hans D. Baumann , called Doc Baumann (* 1950 in Kassel ) is a specialist author and journalist for digital image processing and Photoshop , graphic artist , writer and art scientist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1968, he did an internship as a stage painter. From 1969 he studied art and art history in Marburg , Düsseldorf and Kassel. He did his doctorate on the concept of image and then worked as a university art scientist. He has been working as a freelance writer since 1981 and has since published around 40 books. He also works as a journalist, photo graphic artist and art historian. From 1984 to 1996 he was editor-in-chief of the motorcycle rocker magazine Bikers News (until 2005 publisher). Since 1984 he has been involved in digital image processing and since 1988 he has been writing articles and books on digital image processing and typography . He is the author of various computer and photo magazines.

In 1986 he wrote a book The Film: The Name of the Rose about the shooting of the film The Name of the Rose and the historical, ecclesiastical and philosophical background to Umberto Eco's book The Name of the Rose , which is also the first book in Germany with electronic desktop publishing . Baumann is one of the pioneers of this technology in Germany and is editor-in-chief and co-founder of the image processing magazine DOCMA , which has existed since 1990.
