Hans Dachs (historian)

Hans Dachs (born January 30, 1886 in Erding , † April 25, 1966 in Regensburg ) was a German historian .

Hans Dachs first attended the Benedictine high school in Schäftlarn and then the high school in Freising . After graduating from high school, he studied classical philology and antiquity in Munich , Bonn and Erlangen from 1905 to 1910 . After graduating as Dr. phil In 1912, he was initially a private tutor to Count von Hutten-Czapski in Monte Carlo and Rome for a short time. In 1914 he moved to Regensburg and was a teacher at the girls' grammar school run by the English Misses until 1920 and then at the old school in Regensburg until 1926 . He signed the on November 11, 1933The professors at the German universities and colleges acknowledge Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state . Most recently he was professor of history and historical auxiliary sciences at the Philosophical-Theological University of Regensburg , from 1926 as associate professor and from 1945 as full professor. He retired in 1951.

Dachs was long-time chairman and honorary member of the historical association for Upper Palatinate and Regensburg . In 1956 he was awarded the Albertus Magnus Medal of the City of Regensburg and in 1962 the Nordgau Culture Prize of the City of Amberg in the “ Home Care ” category.
