Hans Falk

Hans Falk (born August 16, 1918 in Zurich ; † April 19, 2002 in Zurich) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist who lived in New York , Ireland , England , Switzerland and on the Italian volcanic island of Stromboli .

life and career

Hans Falk was born in Zurich in 1918 and studied at the Zurich School of Applied Arts and in Lucerne . His first commissioned work was posters and graphics, with which he won numerous awards. Among the top contract wins was a series of seven posters for Expo 64 . His extensive travels led him to longer stays abroad in England, New York and Ireland.

One of his greatest successes is a book with the Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt . 1977 Hans Falk accompanied Circus knee on his tour of Switzerland. Out of this circus fascination, the book "Hans Falk - Circus on the subject" (ABC-Verlag) and the documentary "Circus Blues" (FilmArts) appeared. In his later years he lived in Urdorf near Zurich and on the Sicilian volcanic island of Stromboli.

Hans Falk died in 2002 and left behind a rich life's work of pictures, posters and graphics, which made him one of the most important Swiss artists of the twentieth century.

He found his final resting place in the Nordheim cemetery in Zurich .
