Hans Friedrich Göler of Ravensburg

Hans Friedrich Göler Ravensburg (* 5. March 1565 ; † 10. December 1626 ) comes from the family Göler of Ravensburg , an old Kraichgauer noble family that the Swabian imperial knights belonged and its headquarters, the Ravensburg in Sulzfeld in Baden-Wuerttemberg is . He was the builder of the Great Cellar and the Palas of the Ravensburg.

Hans Friedrich was the youngest son of Hans III. Göler von Ravensburg and Anna Maria von Gemmingen. He was married to Katharina von Mentzingen (1585–1635). Of the couple's ten children, their daughter Anna Katharina (* 1611) and sons Wolfgang Albrecht (1614–1636) and Johann Bernhard I (1608–1652) reached adulthood.

Life

Hans Friedrich had the large cellar of the Ravensburg built and on top of it in 1607 the palace, which was also named the Fritzische Schloss after him . The building is still preserved up to the first floor and is now used by the Ravensburg castle tavern as a "knight's hall". The Göler-Mentzingen alliance coat of arms, which reminds of the client and his wife, is located above the portal of the building.

The epitaph for Hans Friedrich Göler von Ravensburg and his wife is located in the Protestant church in Sulzfeld to the right of the altar: It shows a relief representation of the crucified with the kneeling family of the founders in front of a city full of towers. The epitaph is flanked on the side by two caryatids .
