Hans Ganahl

Hans Ganahl (born November 25, 1901 in Feldkirch ; † January 16, 1968 in Zihlschlacht-Sitterdorf , Canton Thurgau ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP / NSDAP / ÖVP ) and manufacturer. He was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1934 to 1938 and from 1949 to 1964 .

education and profession

After attending the elementary school in Feldkirch, Ganahl graduated from the Feldkirch high school and the technical center for the textile industry in Reutlingen . He was also an associate student at the commercial school for a short time and worked as an intern in several companies and trading companies in the textile industry. In 1925 he joined his father's company, in 1927 he became managing partner of Carl Ganahl u. Co. In 1931 he was promoted to senior director. Due to his political past, he lost his apartment on May 5, 1945 and was arrested for the first time in July 1945. After his release from prison, he was forbidden to enter his company, and he was forced to stay in Feldkirch until he was arrested again in June 1946. He was interned in the Brederis detention camp for 15 months , with a public administrator ruling over his private assets and company until 1947. Only then was he able to dispose of his private and corporate assets again.

Politics and functions

Between November 14, 1934 and March 12, 1938, Ganahl was a member of the state parliament of Vorarlberg as a representative of industry and mining, and from 1938 to 1939 he was a member of the Feldkirch city council. He was also a member of the Vorarlberg regional association of industrialists and from 1933 and 1934 its chairman and president in 1934. He was a candidate from 1939 to 1943 and a member of the NSDAP from 1943. After the end of the Second World War, Ganahl was again a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from October 25, 1949 to October 28, 1964 as a member of the Feldkirch electoral district . Within the party, he was a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1949 to 1964 and a member of the state party council of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1950 to 1964. He was also active as a member of the regional management of the Vorarlberg Economic Association and was a member of the state parliament's finance committee and a member of the social policy committee.

Ganahl was president of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce, supervisory board and co-founder of the Montafon spa in Schruns, member of the committee of the Austrian Rhine Shipping Association and the Technical Auditing Association for Austria, member of the supervisory board of Export- und Mustermesse GmbH. Dornbirn , member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Economic Research, censor of the Austrian National Bank of the Bregenz branch and board member of Sparkasse Feldkirch .

Private

Ganahl's father, Karl Ganahl (1860–1927) was a manufacturer and married to Katharina Martina Ganahl (1873–1948), née Herburger. He married Eva Rubritius on July 31, 1950 and had a daughter and two sons born between 1951 and 1954.
