Hans Georg Löffler (born November 28, 1953 in Bad Dürkheim ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Löffler passed his Abitur in 1973 at the Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Gymnasium in Bad Dürkheim and from 1974 studied law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he became a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1981 he passed the first state examination, the second in 1984 in Stuttgart . In Freiburg , he then worked as a lawyer. In 1985 he became head of the legal department of the city administration of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . In the same year he took on the same function at the city of Speyer , and in 1997 he became Chief Administrative Director there. In 1997 he became deputy mayor and chairman of the CDU local association in the hambach district . In 1999 Löffler was elected to the city council of his place of residence Neustadt. In the first direct election for the mayor of Neustadt in 2001, he prevailed with 59.1 percent of the vote. He took office on January 1, 2002.

After Löffler served for 16 years, he did not stand for the mayoral election in September 2017. At the end of his second term in office, he retired in December 2017. One of the successes of his tenure was the low level of per capita debt compared to most of the urban districts in Rhineland-Palatinate .
