Hans-Georg Loeffler

Hans-Georg Löffler (born May 10, 1937 in Seehausen , Altmark ) is a former major general of the National People's Army (NVA) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). In 1990 he was head of the administration organization in the main staff of the NVA.

Life

Hans-Georg Löffler is the son of a Reichsbahn employee and started school in Hitzacker (Elbe) . He grew up in Mecklenburg , learned the trade of a machine fitter and obtained the higher education entrance qualification on the second educational path (VHS). Then he attended the infantry officer school of the KVP in Döbeln / Sa. from 1955 to 1956, then from 1956 to 1958 the NVA infantry officers school in Plauen / Vogtl. On October 7, 1958 he was appointed second lieutenant.

From 1958 to 1965 he was a platoon leader, company commander and assistant to the Chief of Staff / MSB in the 28 Motorized Rifle Regiment ( Rostock ). This was followed by promotions to lieutenant (October 7, 1960), first lieutenant (August 10, 1962) and captain (October 7, 1965). From 1965 to 1966 Löffler completed an apprenticeship at the Foreign Language Institute of the NVA in Naumburg / Sa. and then studied from 1966 to 1969 at the Military Academy of Land Forces "MW Frunze" in Moscow . He completed his studies with "distinction and gold medal" and the academic degree of diploma military scientist.

On August 1, 1969, he was promoted to major. He was then in action in the "Operativ" department in the command of Military District V (Neubrandenburg) until 1970. From 1970 to 1973 he was chief of staff and from 1973 to 1977 commander of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Regiment in Brandenburg / Havel. On October 7, 1973 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. From 1977 to 1980 he was head of the "Operativ" department in Kdo. MB V. On October 7, 1978 he was promoted to colonel.

From 1980 to 1982 Löffler studied at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR in Moscow, where he also graduated with "Distinction and Gold Medal" and the academic degree of "Diplom Military Scientist". 1982 to 1983 he was then deputy chief of staff in Kdo. MB V for operational work. From 1983 to 1986 he was in command of the 1st Mot.-Rifle Division (Potsdam) and then until November 1989 deputy to the chief of MB V and chief of staff. On March 1, 1987, he was appointed major general.

From November 1989 Löffler was incorporated as the future head of the administration organization in the main staff of the NVA in Strausberg. On February 1, 1990, he then took over this position as the successor to Major General Herbert Schmerler . With the end of the GDR on October 2, 1990, he was released from the NVA and unemployed. From 1991 to 2006 Löffler worked in a railway engineering company.
