Hans Graß

Hans Graß , also Hans Grass (born January 25, 1909 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † April 2, 1994 ) was a German Protestant clergyman and university professor .

Life

Hans Graß was the son of the dye works manager August Graß.

He attended the von-Saldern'sche-Gymnasium in Brandenburg an der Havel from 1916 to 1928 and enrolled in 1928 to study theology at the University of Göttingen , which he did at the University of Marburg , with lectures by Rudolf Bultmann , the University of Tübingen and continued at the University of Berlin ; on September 5, 1933 he passed his first theological exam .

From 1933 to 1936 he was vicar and assistant preacher in the Berlin-Brandenburg Church and passed his second theological exam on April 2, 1936.

On November 1, 1936, he started working for Paul Althaus as a research assistant at the University of Erlangen , where he received his doctorate on July 19, 1939. theol. and was drafted into military service in 1940. After he became an assistant at the University of Erlangen on December 1, 1942, he became a prisoner of war in Yugoslavia during his military service , from which he was released in 1948; Immediately afterwards he was given an assistant position at Paul Althaus, with whom he was in intensive correspondence during the war years.

On October 28, 1949, after his habilitation , he began teaching as a private lecturer in systematic theology at the University of Erlangen.

He was appointed senior assistant on June 27, 1951 and diet lecturer on April 1, 1955.

From the summer semester 1954 to the winter semester 1954/1955 he was a substitute professor for systematic theology at the University of Marburg, where on May 1, 1955 he became a full professor for systematic theology and social ethics ; on March 31, 1977 he retired .

Hans Graß had been married to Ingrid (née Boerl) since 1904 and they had four children together.

Scientific work

Hans Graß dealt very thoroughly with the resurrection and grave reports and sets the authenticity value of the representation in the four Gospels almost equal to zero: Even if it were possible to remove all legendary formations and growths, no core would be peeled out which could be said to reflect the original events in their sequence and circumstances with some clarity, unambiguity and plausibility .

Together with Werner Georg Kümmel , he founded and published the Marburg Theological Studies .
