Saldria is the short name of the existing in its history, with changing the name of- Saldern 'rule School in Brandenburg an der Havel .

The name of the school goes back to the donation of the former bishop's court, the Saldria on Gotthardtkirchplatz, in 1589 by Gertrud von Saldern , née von Hake , widow of the electoral chief chamberlain Matthias von Saldern . In this school, the existing parish school, the Old Town Latin School, was initially continued. From then on, the school was run by the Brandenburg Old Town Council , whose mayor, Simon Roter , helped maintain the foundation.

As was customary at the time, lessons were initially given in religion and the liberal arts . Under the influence of pietism came realities added.

Saldria am Salzhof (1866–1944) and Johannis Church

In the 18th century, the school organization fell into disrepair and only came into being as a community school, in contrast to the knight academy that accepted the nobility, in the course of the 19th century - initially through the initiative of individuals (Vice Rector Schultze, 1806–1822), later as part of state measures Blossom. State school reform in 1903 is also due to the amalgamation with other secondary schools in the Havelstadt, which was completed in 1937 with the dissolution of the Knight Academy before the school was closed in 1945 after the "students of the Saldria " had also left in the march of the National Socialist combat youth .

Since 1993 there has been a von Saldern grammar school in Brandenburg again , which refers to the tradition of the Saldern Foundation.
