Hans Hengeler

Hans Hengeler (born February 1, 1902 ; † 1982 ) was a German lawyer, industrial attorney and co-founder of a forerunner of the German law firm Hengeler Mueller .

Life

Hans Hengeler completed his law studies in Freiburg, Bonn , Cologne and Tübingen . In 1931 he was admitted to the bar.

After his re-admission in 1947, Hengeler ran the Hengeler Kurth Wirtz partnership with Heinrich Wirtz and Heinz-Bernd Kurth in Düsseldorf . This worked according to an oral partnership agreement (until Hengeler's death in 1982; previously only profit distribution agreement for 25 years).

Hengeler soon gained the reputation of a leading German lawyer. For many years he was a member of the board of the Düsseldorf Lawyers' Association and various supervisory and advisory boards. On the occasion of his 70th birthday in 1972, the University of Cologne awarded him an honorary doctorate. The focus of his legal work was on corporate law, in particular on stock corporation and group law, he was an advisor to numerous large and traditional listed companies and family companies.

On January 1, 1990, Hengeler Kurth Wirtz merged with the Frankfurt law firm Mueller Weitzel Weisner to form today's large law firm Hengeler Mueller.

Hans Hengeler was married. His son Hans-Peter Hengeler (* 1937 ) has been a lawyer since 1971 and was a partner in the law firm Hengeler Mueller.
