Hans Hoffmann

Hans Hoffmann (born October 31, 1915 in Lübbenau ; † January 27, 2005 in Heilbronn ) was Mayor of Neckarsulm from 1955 to 1967 and Lord Mayor of Heilbronn from 1967 to 1983 .

Life

Hoffmann completed his studies and was a trainee lawyer at the Higher Regional Court in Celle . At the AEG plant in Sofia he was assistant director and an officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II. From 1945 to 1947 Hoffmann worked for an American agency as a translator in a personnel office. In 1947 he acquired shares in an apparatus manufacturing company and remained a partner until 1954. The SPD politician was Mayor of Neckarsulm from 1955 to 1967 and Lord Mayor of Heilbronn from 1967 to 1983.

In 1977 the Heilbronn City Council awarded him the Ring of Honor of the City of Heilbronn for his services to urban development, economics and finance. In 1980 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, and in 1983 the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
