Hans Hofmann (soccer player)

Hans Hofmann (born December 6, 1947 ) is a former German football goalkeeper who was in goal 20 times for FC Vorwärts Frankfurt in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football , from 1971 to 1973 . Hofmann is a three-time GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

At the age of 19, Hofmann came in 1967 from the Bad Kösener regional league representative, the company sports community (BSG) medicine, to the army sports community (ASG) Vorwärts Leipzig , which played in the second-rate GDR league . With 20 appearances in 30 league games, he immediately became the goalkeeper of the Leipzig team in the 1967/68 season. In the autumn of 1968 Hofmann was appointed to the GDR junior national team, for which he guarded the goal in three international matches until 1970.

After 47 GDR league appearances for Vorwärts Leipzig, Hofmann moved in 1969 to the top club of the Vorwärts army sports association , FC Vorwärts Berlin. There he was mainly used in the 2nd team, which was represented in the GDR league. There was in the 1970/71 season with 22 appearances in 26 point games regular goalkeeper 2nd team of FC Vorwärts, who played in Frankfurt (Oder) since that season . This season Hofmann also played his first three league games for FCV. He had his most league appearances in 1971/72 when he guarded the gate twelve times. In the 1973/74 season Hofmann was still part of the FCV squad, but was not used in either the 1st or 2nd team.

For the season 1974/75 Hofmann moved to the GDR league club BSG Chemie Leipzig . There he played only eight point games within two years and was mainly used in the 2nd team, which played in the third-rate district league. In 1976/77 he moved to the district league team Stahl Nordwest Leipzig . With him he rose to the GDR league in 1978, where Hofmann completed all 22 point games in 1978/79. Immediate relegation followed a year later, and in the 1980/81 and 1981/82 seasons Hofmann played another 26 GDR league games. After another descent from Northwest in 1982, the 34-year-old Hofmann's career in higher-class football was over.
