Hans Kallen

Hans Kallen (born January 5, 1901 in Krefeld , † October 24, 1974 in Essen ) was a German engineer and manager . From 1945 to 1963 he was on the board of directors of Fried. Krupp AG in the metallurgy and technology departments.

Kallen attended school in Krefeld and studied metallurgy at the Technical University of Aachen and began his professional life at Fried in 1937. Krupp AG in Essen. At first he was chief engineer and later until his retirement he was department director for metallurgy at Fried. Krupp AG and chairman of the supervisory board of the Bochumer Verein (1964–1965). He was head of the central technology department as well as on the management board and supervisory board of Hütten- und Bergwerke Rheinhausen AG . Kallen was instrumental in the development of stainless steel .

In 1968, as a pensioner from Berthold Beitz , Kallen was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach Foundation , which was established by Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach as the legal successor to Fried. Krupp AG after his death.

Hans Kallen first lived in the Stadtwald district of Essen and from 1952 until his death in Essen-Heisingen .

He was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. honored .

For the RWTH Aachen he donated the Dr. Hans Kallen Fund.
