Hans Keller (politician, 1903)

Hans Keller (born January 1, 1903 in Berlin , † September 6, 1956 in Detmold ) was a German politician (NSDAP) and mayor of Detmold.

Life

The business graduate Hans Keller came to Detmold in 1928 and worked there as a tax advisor and head of the medical clearing office in Detmold. He joined the NSDAP in March 1932 and was a member of the SS from September 1932 . From 1932 to 1933, Keller was a city councilor for the NSDAP in Detmold. On March 31, 1933, he was appointed acting Lord Mayor as the successor to Emil Peters, who had been deposed by the NSDAP . On November 2, 1933, he was officially elected mayor for one year and was confirmed in office on September 4, 1934 for a further twelve years. Hans Keller achieved the rank of SS-Obersturmführer in 1935 . During the Second World War he was a member of the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1945 and made it to the position of company leader.

On April 4, 1945, units of the 30th US Division occupied Detmold. On the same day, Keller was dismissed as mayor. From 1945 to 1947 he was in the Recklinghausen-Hillerheide internment camp . On December 9, 1948, he was classified in category IV ( fellow travelers ) by the main denazification committee for the Detmold district .

Despite his past, Hans Keller was nominated by the CDU in Lemgo as a candidate for the 1953 federal election . He died on September 6, 1956 in Detmold.
