Hans Kerstnig

Hans Kerstnig (born February 15, 1914 in Napplach , municipality of Reißeck , † June 3, 1984 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and Vice President of the Federal Railway Directorate in Villach. From 1953 to 1965 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament , between 1960 and 1970 he was a regional councilor or provincial governor's deputy in the Carinthian state government and from 1970 to 1979 a member of the national council .

After elementary school, Kerstnig attended grammar school and graduated from high school in 1934. He studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1938. After serving in court in Spittal an der Drau in 1946, Kerstnig became a legal clerk of the Austrian Federal Railways in the same year, and was later awarded the professional title of Hofrat . Kerstnig was March 17, 1953 to May 3, 1965 Member of the Carinthian parliament and served from March 30 1960 to April 12, 1965 as the provincial government in the state government Wedenig V . On April 12, 1965, Kerstnig was sworn in as 1st Deputy Governor of the State Government Sima I , whereby he resigned from the State Government on March 20, 1970. He was then from March 31, 1970 to June 4, 1979 Member of the National Council. Within the party, Kerstnig was active as a member of the regional party executive of the SPÖ Carinthia and chairman of the state party control, and he was also a member of the district executive of the SPÖ Villach. He was also active as the regional representative of the Federation of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals, and Artists (BSA) Carinthia and was President of the Carinthian Red Cross and First Vice-President of the Austrian Red Cross. He was also Vice President of the Austrian Ski Association and Vice President of the Paneuropa Union .
