Napplach is a village in Mölltal and part of the Penk cadastral community , which belongs to the Reisseck community in the Spittal an der Drau district in Carinthia .

geography

The place Napplach is about 25 kilometers northeast of Spittal an der Drau and the Millstätter See , at 613  m above sea level. A. right (south) of the Möll flowed through by the Teuchlbach at the foot of the Kreuzeck group .

history

The Danielsberg , directly above the place, was already settled in the Stone Age and later a Celtic place of worship.

For centuries there were hammer mills , hammer mills and charcoal shops in Napplach that processed the iron from the Teuchl. In the 19th century there was still a large hammer mill, with up to four zerrennfeechen , which was operated with charcoal produced by the local farmers. From 1901 to 1960 a wood pulp and cardboard factory provided jobs for the local population.

In 2008 there was a shooting at a christening ceremony when a 37-year-old native Romanian shot through the closed door of the fire station and killed a woman.

The Danielsberg and Teuchl can be reached from Napplach . There is a bus stop and a train station for the Tauern Railway in Penk .

Attractions

The Lady Chapel was built between 1847 and 1855 and renovated in 1977.
