Hans Karl Liepmann (born April 8, 1901 in Diedersdorf , Teltow-Fläming district , † December 24, 1991 in Wolfsburg ) was a German hunting writer.

Life

He was the son of the landlord Carl Victor Liepmann (1866–1940) and Else Eva born. Hoffmann (1876-1954). From 1911 Liepmann grew up in Scharfenbrück, where his father had bought a property, and gathered his first hunting experiences here from the age of 13. He learned the trade of a farmer and worked in the 1930s as administrator of the Pressel -Winkelmühle estate for the landowner and politician Günther Gereke . In Pressel, Liepmann married Gertraud Sprung (1908–1997) in 1934; they had three sons and a daughter. In 1937 he bought a farm in Gollin near Deutsch-Krone . In 1940 he also took over the administration of the neighboring Birkholz domain. In 1945 Liepmann made his way through the country occupied by Soviet soldiers and Poles to Saxony-Anhalt , where his family, who had already fled , was staying. Here he built a new existence as a new farmer in Zabitz ( Freist ). Due to an accident in 1949, Liepmann suffered paraplegia and was therefore no longer able to work as a farmer. Instead, he began to write forbidden for agricultural and forestry newspapers in the newly founded Federal Republic of Germany . Because of the latent danger for him and his family, Liepmann and his relatives fled to West Germany in 1953. Here he became a prolific writer on hunting with a total of 18 books (two of which were published posthumously) and newspaper articles. Many of his works are biographical.

Despite his physical handicap, Liepmann remained a passionate hunter well into old age.
