Hans Martin Balz

Hans Martin Balz (* 1940 in Darmstadt ) is a German musicologist , bell and organ expert for the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau , organist and author .

Life

Hans Martin Balz studied Protestant church music at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne (organ with Hans Klotz ) and at the Folkwang University in Essen (organ with Siegfried Reda up to the concert exam). He received his doctorate in Frankfurt for a thesis on the history of organ building in the former Hessian province of Starkenburg .

Hans Martin Balz is a specialist in modern and historical organ types and organ builders in the area of Hessen-Nassau and southern Hesse. Until 2005 he was chairman of the Association for Research and Preservation of Silesian Organs. V. Since 1999 he has been editor of the Ars Organi magazine , for which he has written numerous articles.

He has published various publications about organ builders and individual organs in Hessen, which contribute to opening up the organ landscape of Hessen .
