Hans Matzenauer
Hans Matzenauer (born October 20, 1933 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and city school council president. Matzenauer was a member of the Federal Council between 1977 and 1983 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1983 to 1992 .
education and profession
After attending compulsory school, Matzenauer graduated from the Federal Teachers' Training Institute between 1948 and 1953 and then studied journalism for four semesters . From 1953 to 1964 he was a teacher at primary and secondary schools in Vienna and from 1964 to 1966 he was the educational secretary of the Austrian Children's Friends . In 1966 he rose to the position of Federal Secretary of Kinderfreunde before becoming the official President of the City School Council for Vienna in 1980. Matzenauer stayed in this position until 1992. He was appointed professor in 1983 and councilor in 1992. On June 1, 2007, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the City University of New York .
politics
Matzenauer worked in various cultural and educational organizations and was President of the Socialist Education International from 1967 to 1980 . Between 1981 and 1993 he was Federal Chairman of the Socialist Teachers' Association of Austria, and from 1992 Vice-President of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO . In addition, he was chairman of the listeners 'and viewers' representation at ORF , chairman of the Austrian Children's Friends and chairman of the Austrian-American school and education cooperation. Matzenauer was a member of the Federal Council from March 28, 1977 to January 9, 1983, and a member of the National Council from January 11, 1983 to October 31, 1992. In the National Council, Matzenauer held the function of SPÖ school speaker from 1983 to 1992.
