Hans Muhr
Hans Muhr (born April 21, 1934 in Graz ) is an Austrian sculptor .
Live and act
After teaching mathematics, physical education and handicrafts for more than ten years, Hans Muhr studied with Heinz Leinfellner at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1965 , where he received his diploma in ceramic sculpture in 1969. Since 1970 Muhr has been primarily concerned with stone carving and fountain design and has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1973.
For the city of Vienna, the “water sculptor” Hans Muhr created the so-called Viennese drinking fountain (also: Muhr fountain ), which is set up at various locations in Vienna, as a friendship gift but also in other major international cities. Other works by Muhr in Vienna are the water waves life fountain next to the Federal Chancellery, the gold river fountain on Kärntner Strasse , the vegetative sculpture in the Trabrenngrund residential complex , fountains and sculptures in the arcade courtyard of the town hall , the tree of life in the Vienna water world on the Kardinal-Rauscher -Platz and the Vienna water waves in Floridsdorf . In 2009 he designed the tombstone for the honorary grave of Vienna's former mayor Helmut Zilk, who died in 2008 . In 2015 he made the marble sculpture for Udo Jürgens' grave .
