Hans Nägeli (born February 1, 1865 in Nuolen , † September 27, 1945 in Zollikon , reformed , resident in Zurich ) was a Swiss politician (Democratic Party) .

biography

Hans Nägeli was born on February 1, 1865 in Nuolen as the son of the spa owner Hans Jakob Nägeli and Barbara, born Bosshard. Hans Nägeli completed a degree in theology at the University of Zurich . As a result, he was first from 1888 as vicar at the Neumünster in Zurich , then from 1891 as actuary of the city school maintenance, before he was active from 1892 to 1900 as secretary of the civil administration and poor relief. After that he was employed as the first secretary at the municipal education authority.

In 1894 Hans Nägeli married Frieda Amalie, who was born in Zollikon, and was the daughter of Alfred Häusser. He died on September 27, 1945, four months before he would turn 81 in Zollikon.

Political activity

Hans Nägeli, a member of the Democratic Party, was a member of the Zurich city ​​council from 1907 to 1917 . There he initially headed the guardianship and poor affairs department, and from 1910 the finance department. In 1917 he was elected city president. In 1928 he was defeated in a first election in Zurich against his social democratic challenger Emil Klöti. In addition, Nägeli represented his party in the Zurich Cantonal Council between 1920 and 1927 .

Hans Nägeli distinguished himself as an administrative specialist as well as in his overview of the urban finances and his expert commission work. He also wrote papers on urban finance and school issues.
