Hans Neumann (born October 26, 1873 in Kassel , † December 31, 1957 in Munich ) was a German graphic artist .

Life

Hans Neumann was the son of the painter Emil Neumann. He studied at the art academies in Kassel and Berlin and settled in Munich after completing his studies. At the suggestion of the painter and typographer Otto Eckmann , he dealt with the technique of color woodcut . His works were created primarily for illustration purposes. They are assigned to the "floral" Art Nouveau .

Like his brother Ernst Neumann , he worked for the magazines Jugend and Simplicissimus .

Hans Neumann was a member of the German Association of Artists . He was also in charge of the "Graphic Design Association", which included August Braun and the Swiss Karl Liner.
