Hans Niederdorfer (born May 13, 1938 in Chur ; † July 23, 2016 in Trimmis ) is a Swiss clarinet player, conductor and composer from Trimmis in the canton of Graubünden .

He was a trained radio electrician and worked as a music producer , music publisher and concert organizer. At the age of 23 in 1961, he founded the Ländlerkapelle Via Mala . The name is derived from a well-known gorge that flows through the Hinterrhein above Thusis . A year later the first record with his interpretations came out, which was followed by around 30 more.

Since then, the clarinetist has usually performed with two accordionists and a bass violinist . In this way he developed an unmistakable style that corresponds to a synthesis between the Bündner and Central Switzerland styles. His best-known own composition is the Länders So hemmers gera (that's how we like it) . In addition, many of his Scottish compositions are very popular. He also moderated radio shows on local radio. He used to be the Graubünden correspondent for the folk music journal on Swiss Radio DRS 1 by and with Wysel Gyr . Hans Niederdorfer also took care of the Swiss folk music scene.

The Schweizer Landesfonotek lists over 200 sound carriers on which he either participates or compositions by him are played.
