Hans Nitsche

Hans Nitsche (born November 30, 1893 in Obersuhl ; † May 15, 1962 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After elementary school, Hans Nitsche completed an apprenticeship as a fitter and blacksmith. He was a soldier in World War I and was seriously wounded.

politics

Hans Nitsche was organized in the SPD and unionized since 1913. From 1928 to 1933 and from 1945 chairman of the SPD Kassel. From 1917 to 1933 he was chairman of the Reich Association of War Disabled in the Kassel administrative region. From 1923 to 1933 member of the district leadership of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold.

Between 1924 and 1933 Nitsche was a city councilor in Kassel and there from 1928 to 1933 an honorary city councilor. With the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933, he was dismissed from all offices and worked from 1933 to 1945 as a traveler for a coffee and soap company. From May 2 to June 15, 1933, he was imprisoned in the Breitenau camp south of Kassel.

In 1945 he was appointed police chief in Kassel by the American occupation forces. He became the first chairman of the SPD in Kassel and had been a city councilor in Kassel since the first free local elections from May 26, 1946 to August 9, 1946. From January 10, 1946 to August 8, 1960 he was a full-time councilor for social affairs in Kassel.

From February 26, 1946 to July 14, 1946, he was a member of the appointed Land Advisory Committee and from July 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946, a member of the Constitutional Advisory State Assembly of Greater Hesse . From October 11, 1949 to November 30, 1954 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament and in 1954 a member of the 2nd Federal Assembly .

Other offices

Hans Nitsche was President of the Association of War Disabled, Survivors and Social Pensioners Germany eV (VdK) and member of the administrative committee of the LWV from August 1, 1953 to July 31, 1961.
