Johann Nowack (born July 10, 1866 in Vienna , † August 7, 1918 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian watercolorist and interior designer .

Life

Nowack, a trained trimmers , came to architecture watercolors through interior design. Examples of his work are the former ITA shop on Wiener Graben as an example of a bizarre Art Nouveau and the former inlaid floor in Belvedere Palace . As a result, watercolor painting took him via Madeira, Funchal and Bozen to Salzburg. Many old Salzburg pictures were taken. Excursions to Venice, Rothenburg odT, South Tyrol and Holland expanded his work.

The preference for watercolors was the topic of his work at the state trade school in Salzburg for future architecture students.

Contemporaries such as Carl Mell and Franz Kulstrunk and above all Rudolf von Alt made a major contribution to preserving the memory of streets, squares and palaces with their work. The last exhibition was shown by N. Schaffer in the Salzburg Museum Carolino Augusteum in 1992 from holdings of the estate and private loans.
