Hans Penndorf

Hans Penndorf (born January 10, 1879 in Köstritz , Thuringia , † November 1, 1960 ) was a German elementary school teacher, geologist and paleontologist. He was a recognized expert on the geology of Northern Hesse.

Life

Hans Penndorf completed training as a primary school teacher in Osterwieck and Mühlhausen with the exam in 1899. As a primary school teacher in Göttingen , he attended the lectures of Hans Stille and Adolf von Koenen in geology and palaeontology. From 1906 to 1943 he was a teacher in Kassel .

He was an active member of the Natural History Association in Kassel, went on numerous excursions and gave lectures at the adult education center. He published a geological guide for Lower Hesse and dealt with ceratites of the upper shell limestone .

Most of the material he has collected is in the collections of the Senckenberg Museum .
