Hans Prahofer

Hans Prähofer (born September 29, 1920 in Traunstein ; † November 6, 2005 in Munich ) was a German painter , sculptor , graphic artist and writer .

Life

Hans Prähofer was born in Traunstein, but grew up in Mühldorf am Inn . He studied fine arts with Adolf Schinnerer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. At the same time, at the request of his father, he had to complete an apprenticeship as a butcher , in 1937 he became a soldier and two years later he was drafted into military service. After the Second World War , Prähofer initially worked as a journalist for the Upper Bavarian Volksblatt and wrote court and police reports.

In the early 1950s, Prähofer moved to Munich. It was here that the autobiographical novel "The Dragon Swing" was created with which he became famous.

The pictures and works of Prähofer show a wide range of talent from simple brushstrokes to graphics , wall painting and smoothness technology to glass windows, metal relief and art in architecture . He had solo exhibitions in Switzerland , New York City , Detroit , Berlin and Munich.
