Hans Ramge

Hans Ramge (born August 9, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German linguist and name researcher .

Career

Hans Ramge grew up in Worms and studied German, history and philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg and Mainz from 1959 to 1964 , where he also received his doctorate in 1966. From 1964 to 1969 he was a grammar school teacher in Bensheim and Darmstadt , before moving to the Justus Liebig University in Giessen as an academic adviser in 1970 . There he completed his habilitation in 1975 and immediately afterwards was offered a professorship for the German language at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . In 1978 he was appointed to the chair for German linguistics at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen, which he held until his retirement in 2005. Since 1980 he has been in charge of the " Hessian Field Name Archive Gießen ".

Ramge's research focuses on language acquisition, conversation and text analysis and, increasingly since the 1980s, language history and name research, especially in the Hessian region. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse .
