Hans "Hanno" Rempel (born October 5, 1940 ; † August 22, 2016 ) was a German pianist, composer , author and radio presenter.

Life

In 1972/73 Rempel wrote a series of compositions for improvisers , two of which he performed together with some of the most prominent free jazz musicians in the GDR and recorded for FMP . In his groups and workshop ensembles, such as the Hans Rempel Octet , a. Johannes Bauer , Heinz Becker , Dietmar Diesner , Helmut Forsthoff , Joachim Graswurm , Klaus Koch , Radu Malfatti , Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky , Friedhelm Schönfeld and Baby Sommer , with whom he a. a. performed at the Peitz Jazz Workshop. He also played with Phil Wachsmann and Paul Lytton .
