Hans Sünderhauf

Hans Sünderhauf (born May 22, 1929 in Berlin ; † April 6, 2009 ) was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He was a member of the artist group Berliner Malerpoeten . Together with Kurt Mühlenhaupt , he was one of the most important people in the Kreuzberg bohemian and artistic scene.

After studying painting at the Berlin University of Fine Arts , he worked in his Kreuzberg studio until 2005 . In addition to sculptures, his work mainly includes etchings, woodcuts, lithographs, drawings, watercolors, oil paintings and acrylic paintings. His works have been presented to a wide public in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.

He was married and had two daughters. His life and work had been restricted since 1964 by a manic-depressive illness and repeated hospital stays. Nevertheless, his work includes several thousand works.
