Hans Schärer

Hans Schärer (born December 26, 1927 in Bern , † November 14, 1997 in St. Niklausen LU ) was a Swiss painter , draftsman and graphic artist who was closely related to Art brut . Schärer was also active in literature and music.

Schärer worked with "the direct, unaffected expression of a poetic mood, the prerequisite for which is a deep familiarity with the motifs (things, people, interiors, the immediate surroundings)". He exhibited internationally; his work has received several awards.

In 1958, Schärer received the recognition award from the city of Lucerne . In 1982 he was awarded the Art and Culture Prize of the City of Lucerne .

Groups of works by Hans Schärer can also be found in various public collections, for example in the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau in the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne , in the Kunstmuseum Luzern , in the museum in the warehouse in St. Gallen and in the Kunsthaus Zug .
