Hans Schmid (geodesist)

Hans Schmid (born April 26, 1920 in Olmütz ; † July 16, 2010 in Weyregg am Attersee ) was an Austrian geodesist and professor at the Technical Universities of Graz and Vienna . As a university lecturer, he made a special contribution to the matrices notation in compensation calculations and photogrammetry, as well as to the geodetic investigation of earth crust movements .

In 1951, as a young engineering consultant, he founded a surveying office in Vienna XIX , which soon also dealt intensively with photogrammetry and worked on numerous large-scale technical projects - including in the Middle East . The company was relocated to Klosterneuburg in the 1990s and later taken over by his son Peter Schmid.
