Hans Schmidt (composer)

Hans Schmidt (born March 25, 1902 in Heilsbronn ; † March 3, 1982 in Erlangen ) was a German composer , music teacher and conductor .

Life

In 1922, Schmidt began studying music at the College of Music Nuremberg-Augsburg in Nuremberg and in 1924 at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . In 1929 he moved to the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin , where Rudolf Deman , Max Rostal and Paul Juon studied , among others . He graduated with a diploma as a music master .

In 1929 he became the conductor of the military music corps stationed in Landshut . In 1943 he became director of the music department of the music school in Frankfurt am Main , and in 1944 he was transferred to Berlin as a lecturer. From 1939 he was head music master and from 1942 staff music master . After the Second World War and being a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union, he founded a private music school in Heilsbronn in 1949. He was also a conductor in various orchestras in the Heilsbronn region.
