history
The Society for Welding Technology International mbH (GSI) was founded in 1999 by the DVS - German Association for Welding and Allied Processes eV and is an amalgamation of welding technology teaching and research institutes (SLVs) with experience in connection and testing technology. The GSI is a non-profit GmbH that works for individuals, craft businesses, industrial companies, authorities and research bodies. The aim of GSI is joint training and advice as well as technology transfer at home and abroad. It is based in Düsseldorf.

The company's welding training and research institutes are located in Berlin , Duisburg , Fellbach , Hanover , Munich and Saarbrücken . The welding technology course is located in Bielefeld and the Rhein-Ruhr training center branch in Oberhausen .
Subsidiaries outside Germany are SSV Praha ( Czech Republic ), SLV-GSI in Poland , German Egyptian Welding Center in Egypt , GSI Baltikum OÜ in Estonia , GSI Kunshan in China and GSI SLV in Turkey .
